About the Claygate Allotments

The Claygate Allotment Holders Association (CAHA) is made up of over 167 members who manage a total of 76 plots at two sites within Claygate in Surrey. The allotment plots are in beautiful settings on the edge of the village overlooking the countryside and provide an excellent opportunity for people to grow their own healthy food, get fresh air and exercise and be a part of the local community. Association members are from all walks of life and of all ages. The plots are used to grow fruit, vegetables and flowers, many of which are exhibited at the local Claygate show in July each year.

Throughout the year the Association holds events, including a barbeque and the occasional working party to tackle heavy maintenance jobs. Each year plots are judged during the week prior to the Claygate Flower show. Cups are awarded to the best kept plots at each site and an overall best plot. The society holds an AGM each year in the local hall to discuss the finances, progress on the sites in the year and vote on points of discussion. The Association produces a newsletter each quarter, which is made up from contributions from all members. Some past newsletters are available for download below.

The allotment sites were leased from Elmbridge Borough Council  in 1991 by CAHA, since which time the Association has been responsible for ensuring that the sites are properly managed and maintained. The Association committee members (see below) meet 4 times a year to discuss allotment matters and plan the sites projects, including planning regular manure drops, hedge trimming, plumbing, maintenance of scrub areas and dealing with other tasks that arise. Details of these projects will be published below. If you want to contact a committee member, or raise a discussion point, then please use the emails below.
